dave burnt up both rudder servo's in his plane today. they are 7955's. he was practicing knifedge going both directions and the servos burnt up. should they be able to take knifedge flight for ten minutes or is that too much on the servos

Yea , the size of that plane is close to a 40%er. I would say he strained them so hard snot bubbles where coming from there noses! Shocked For normal flying and light 3D 2 is fine IMO. But if you want to hammer it hard you need at least 3 7955s.
I ran 3 5955 on my 40% Carden Edge and had serious blow back. Same on the Yak. I then started running 4 on the rudder.
I have had great luck with just 2 7950s on my Dalton. Thats what I would recommend for the rudder on that plane. Wink

dave checked them with the programmer and the one servo would do nothing. the other would only move one way. he has been complaining about how he couldnt hover the plane all weekend. he thought he was just having a bad day of flying. i wonder if one servo took a crap and made the other servo take all the load and burnt it up. he might have had a bad servo for awhile and didnt know it.  mine seems to be fine so far. i am going to fly the crap out of mine and see if the servos are hot. i am kinda worried since i have been getting lower and dont have that much of a buffer zone anymore. cant really afford another 4 g's on a plane right now.

Thats very possible. But I am sure that 10 min of Knife edge was murder..... (kinda seems premeditated) ... He murdered  them servos and you just stood there and let him do it...um,  um,  um *shaking head in disapproval* Tongue hehehe  Grin
The rudder on that plane is bigger than my 40% Cardens and 4 5955s is just enough. The 7955 is very comparable to 5955s in power. I would replace them with two 7950s on 6.5v .

Lets get together this weekend and throw down! I'll show ya how to heat them rudder servos up.... knife edge on take off 10 minutes of ke loops and then finish'um off with a blender! LOL Grin
